Virginia’s COVID Workplace Standards Now Permanent

Earlier this month, we partnered with the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce to provide an overview of Virginia’s workplace health and safety standards to protect employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. (Chamber members can access the recording through the Chamber’s website.)

The standards, which started in emergency form last July before becoming permanent in late January of this year, apply to all employers in the Commonwealth and include several key changes from the original, emergency version, along with important requirements for employers to have trained employees and developed response plans by March 26.

To the extent they have not yet done so, employees should familiarize themselves with these specific requirements. The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry’s website includes a variety of helpful materials, including response plan templates.
